The exhibition “Pioniere der Lüfte” (Pioneers of the Skies) at the Gustav Weisskopf Museum in Leutershausen is dedicated to the life and work of German aviation pioneer Gustav Weisskopf – known in English as Gustave Whitehead. In addition to Weisskopf, the exhibition presents other inventors, adventurers and record-hunters who faced the immeasurable risks and challenges associated with the early days of motorised flight.
The exhibition covers two storeys and tells many exciting stories on the topic of flight and aviation. The museum’s centrepiece is a replica of Weisskopf’s aircraft, the No. 21, in which he made the first powered flight. This unique exhibit is located on the top floor and is a highlight of the exhibition. Numerous hands-on experimentation stations complement the numerous exhibits and in-depth information, allowing visitors to get to grips with the physical phenomena that made human flight possible. molitor is responsible for developing, planning and installing the interactive exhibits.
