On the Eighth Day, God Created the Cloud

Date: 10/2014 – 12/2015

Location: Gutenbergmuseum, Mainz

Client: Stefan Matlik

The special exhibition in the Gutenberg Museum deals with the Reformation as a media event that, with the printing of the first bible in German, made content universally accessible in much the same way as the cloud does today, giving rise to extensive debate throughout society.

In the roof space of the exhibition hall hang a sequence of rows of transparent sails for projecting images, texts and animated typefaces. The immaterial appearance of this budget-friendly, scenographic solution represents the cloud and can also be seen as a metaphor for the reproduction of information.
