Having won the competition, molitor was responsible for conceiving, planning and installing the new interactive permanent exhibition at the Horst Janssen Museum in Oldenburg. Born in Oldenburg, Horst Janssen was an artist, exceptional talent and ingenious printmaker. Printmaking is therefore also a central component of the new permanent exhibition. Across four thematic areas, visitors can familiarise themselves with Janssen’s exciting life, his drawing and printmaking processes, and his creativity with words. The museum wants to give its visitors a practical understanding of Janssen’s complex printmaking techniques while also inviting them to get creative themselves.
In the thematic area “printing techniques”, three short films present the techniques of woodcut, lithography and etching, which the printmaker Horst Janssen was intensively involved with throughout his life. Visitors also have the chance to become active themselves at hands-on stations.
The thematic areas “biography”, “history of drawing” and “how he writes” take an even closer look at the life and work of the gifted artist, painting a full picture of this deeply passionate draughtsman.
