Geysir Andernach Experience Centre
Date: 06/2006 – 05/2009
Location: Andernach
Client: Art Department Studio Babelsberg GmbH
At the Geysir Andernach experience centre, the largest cold-water geyser in the world is presented in a new and fascinating way as a unique phenomenon in the natural world via interactive exhibits, experiment stations and media installations. After the visitors have seemed to descend to the origin of the geyser, 4,000 metres under the ground, they will accompany a CO2 molecule originating from a magma chamber there on its journey to the surface, where it meets groundwater that eventually shoots out of the Earth’s crust as a geyser. Visitors can experience with all their senses everything that goes on underground before the geyser erupts.
One particular challenge is the development of liquid exhibits as functional models that illustrate the physical processes involved when CO2 meets water. molitor is designing, planning and executing a CO2 management strategy that will enable low-cost, long-term and low-maintenance operation.
