Buchenwald. Exclusion
and violence 1937 to 1945

Date: 09/2015 – 09/2016

Location: Weimar

Client: Stiftung Gedenkstätten Buchenwald und Mittelbau-Dora

For the first time, Buchenwald memorial site’s newly established permanent exhibition is being presented to an audience mainly without personal memories of the Nazi era. An architectural statement is made by means of installations that are intended to interfere with the repetitive layout of the existing building. At the same time, the functionality of the rooms is enhanced as a result of improved orientation.

Due to the uneven faceting of the installations, there are very high demands in terms of the quality of the materials, the assembly and the setting up of the objects in cabinets that lack right angles for the object and graphic installations that molitor is responsible for.
